About me - Peter Dawson

About me

I just turned 56 and still not settled down!
Last few years I've travelled the roads of Oz camping on beaches and in the hills, mainly on the east coast.. Northern Territory, South Australia & Victoria...
I enjoy reporting on music festivals and attending country markets.

Born in Redhill/Edgeware, Greater London in the United Kingdom of Great Britain on the 11th August 1951, my parents had been living with my maternal grandparents Wreford James & Dorothy Wilson at Harrow.
After a time in an upstairs room my brother Robert was born in 1953 and we moved to a Gypsy camp at Cork's Meadow in the south of London, where we lived in a converted bus. Then my dad Alan was recalled to the family newsagency in Aylesbury and he managed the business until we moved to Australia in 1960 by driving overland to India before embarking on a P&O liner for Western Australia.
Working as a printer's engineer Alan broke his ankle in an accident and was retrenched. We then drove our trusty old van named 'Big Joe' to Melbourne where the family settled down. Sister Jane was born there in 1966 and we all completed our education.

After leaving home at 18 I hitch-hiked around much of southern Australia and then married Cherie... a union that lasted only a short few years.
After a stint in Byron Bay in the later half of the 70s I ventured to S.E.Asia on my way to Japan. However I made it as far as Singapore where I met my second wife and the result was - daughters Tcinta (born 1981) & Ishah (born 1985).................................. (to be continued!)

Juzzie Smith is a one-man band, a didjeridu player, a blower of blues harp and guitar picker... and he has released an earthy album called Happy Daze.

Juzzie is also a bloke with a big grin and a lust for life. With family in tow he traverses the land in a Coaster bus. Having honed his craft busking on the street, at markets and festivals, Smith generates a joyous energy with his music. "I believe music takes away worries and brings us together," he enthuses.

From the opening notes of 'Little Journey' Smith's expertise on blues harmonica is obvious. He is also a neat performer on guit...
