About me - Robert Potter

About me

I was born in Chelmsford Essex in the United Kingdom. Have moved around a little as a kid and I now live in Norwich Norfolk in the UK. First got interested in fitness back in 1987 when i was doing Karate, from this i went into aerobics and at the start of 1993 decided to become a aerobics instructor part time as well as work full time.

Started my R.S.A. Exercise to Music Teacher Training Course in the month of February 1993, qualified to teach aerobics in June 1993 and at the same time that I was doing the course I was allowed to take part in the Basic Step Teacher Training course which was held at the same time, but was completed sooner because the Step course was only 3 days in length.

I did some teaching cover during the month of July 1993 for a fellow aerobics instructor whilst he went on holiday.

Started up my first classes in September 1993, when some instructors that I used to go to decided to give it all up and let the centre that I was attending down, so I volunteered my services and have been teaching ever since.

I have taken part in numerous charity events, including the Norwich Aerobathon in 1992, and the London Boots Aerobathon in 1993.

I have attended several different types of workshops, master classes aerobic road show's and courses and I am always on the outlook to doing more of these when I am available to attend.

I have also worked for several other centres on short contracts or as cover for other instructors, as well as for local schools / village halls (for the parents). I am currently teaching at 2 different centres, one is the new Riverside Swimming Pool where I have been since it first opened and the other is University of East Anglia where I have been teaching there since 1995, and in its new Sportspark which opened in 2000.
