About me

Hey!

I'm 27-years-old and a Chicago lifer, living my current incarnation in Uptown.

My writing projects have varied over the years. I started doing poetry like most starried-eyed youth, at first angry and disconnected, then contemplative and forgiving. From there I started a lot of little prose
projects, mostly unfinished, but still well loved. Today, I'm maintaining a blog called How to Be a Rising Goddess and chipping away at my first soon-to-be-published endeavor. It's a creative non-fiction piece that tells the story of a decade through the poems of a mentally unstable teenaged girl. I initally planned to self-publish this, but I feel confident that I should jump out there and shop this around for a real publisher.

In the meantime, I want to sharpen my skills and break into freelance writing . I feel I can accomplish this best by participating in classes, discussions, and websites like this with writers of all levels.

Oh... I'm supposed to say what me favorite food is: spicy carribean foods and ice cream. My pet peeves are overly-agressive know-it-alls, fruit flies, and self-promotional fluff disguised as self-help books.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

to ultimately open an alternative continuing education/vocational school.

I know too much about ...

nothing and too little about everything.

My parents always told me ...

to do my homework.

My childhood ambition ...

was to be a lab technician, only because it sounded cool.

My favorite memory ...

has yet to be made.

Why I write ...

I write because speaking as much as I write will make me hoarse. I write because my body can not contain the amount of imagination I manufacture. Because I want everyone to know something. Because I need to know something.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I'm reading The Women of Brewster Place. I'm watching Netflix. I'm listening to Bjork's new album, Volta.

My first job ...

that did not come with a W-2 was babysitting. My first job with a W-2 was an artist internship. My real job hasn't happened yet.

My best moment ...

was knowing exactly when I grew up. I was 25 and tired of playing childish games to get what I wanted. I started listening to what everyone had to say and I wasn't afraid of the world any more. I took care of myself, got a job that pays, and moved out of my mother's home to prove myself to the world. I made decisions based on long-term goals and have stuck them. And it makes it all great because I still have a ways to go until my next incarnation awakens.

My inspiration ...

in human form are my friends; in object form, it would be the internet, that endless depository of information both real and imagined.

Avoiding bank fees begins with finding the right bank account for your lifestyle. Do you write lots of checks or use your debit card? Do you use direct deposit or do you use a teller for deposits?
