Film sequels have historically been given a bad time as the originals, by their very nature are seen as the superior of the two (and sometimes 3 or 4!). Except for such notable exceptions such as The Godfather and Aliens which were both as critically acclaimed, if not more, than their predecessors, sequels critically and commercially bombed.
