About me - Carolyn Paradis

About me

Hello...it's hard to describe myself, as you have probably found out writing your own bio. I'm 63, and hate getting old. Too much still undone, too many places unseen, too many friends unmet. I read a lot, always have, and from early childhood I've had a running novel being written inside my head. I did finally write a romance novel, but never sent it to a publisher.

Helium is a huge relief to me...all the stories I've got inside can finally escape, and even be read.

I have 2 sons, and lost my first child when he was 5, in a drowning accident. My second marriage is much happier than my first, and I live life as I once imagined I someday would. I make and sell crafts in my own giftshop. I have a granddaughter and grandson I love very much.

I worked many years as a secretary, then found a much more satisfying career working with mentally handicapped adults. Office politics ended that and I tried opening a second hand store. That was fun, but unprofitable.

I guess I'm retired now, although life is as busy as ever. I have a large family and happily we all live in the same area, so we see each other often.

I couldn't drive myself into town as a sudden medical condition had affected the vision in my right eye. Hubby was too busy to leave work so I called on my youngest son, who arrived promptly with his girlfriend in her mother's little sports car. We rushed the 10 k to town with all windows and the sunroof open to take advantage of the rare sunny day in BC. I'd gone in my gardening clothes and had my comfy Krocs on my feet, and entered the spacious, elegant, hushed waiting room with wind-blown...
