Sometimes I feel like cursing the zodiac because truly we Aquarius types are cosmically screwed. Its seems as if we find ourselves in a perpetual state of confusion. When I signed onto Helium I realized that most authors stick to one or two subjects. Now due to either a horrible inability to focus, or simply a spazmatic mind, this is something I am incapable of doing. Could it be an undiscovered form of ADD? The world will never know. And on that note, neither will I. So instead my poor readers will have to tolerate my ramblings on topics which vary from animals, children, women's issues, news of the bizarre, and whatever else the muses toss my way. Happy readings!
I live in Sin City, Nevada, and despite urban myth, we locals do not live in casinos. In fact many of us avoid them at all costs. lol. Still despite the 115 degree summers, life here is never dull! My four legged children consist of two cockatiels, parakeets, dogs, cats, horses, rodents, and a lizard named Gorbachev. Yes, home is a constant zoo. I've just become serious about starting a freelancing career and feel that Helium proves to be a solid stomping ground. So.....here goes nothing!
My passion is ...
Animal Rescue. With animal shelters crowded to the brink, many wonderful critters are unfortunate enough to be forced into 'eternal sleep' in horrific numbers. In Las Vegas alone 24,173 were put under in 2004, and current stats hint at over 30,000 for 2006. Unfortunately animal rescues can't keep up. Spay and neuter your critters!
I know too much about ...
Nothing. Even the teacher is a student, and those that claim they know too much sooner or later will find gaps in what they know. I'm a perpetual student in the school of life.
My parents always told me ...
To cross my fingers, and hope for the best. Then if that doesn't work, make it happen!
My childhood ambition ...
Was to stay clear of the bully. "Back in my days...." it wasn't easy being a nerd! Other then that I wanted to become a garbage truck driver, until I realized what the job entailed. lol
My favorite memory ...
There's a still lake surrounded by evergreens and steep hills. The entire family is standing over some bushes picking wild blueberries, laughing.
Why I write ...
Its an itch my trigger finger can't ignore.....an obsession of sorts. If poetry is in your soul, you don't have any other option.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Reading: Dean Koontz, and Stephen King. Those men have talent! Listening: Enya in a contemplative mood, Last of the Mochicans Soundtrack during a dramatic moment, and alternative/80s at all other times.
My first job ...
McDonald's. You want fries with that? Talk about mental stimulation.
My best moment ...
Once I was told to 'go sit on a rock'. A few years later I heeded this advice by sitting on the Airport Mesa vortex in Sedona, Arizona. So there wasn't any spiritual epiphany, big whoop. The view itself was another story. To die for. Amazing. Georgeous!
My inspiration ...
A few key phrases stated by my grandfather. A truly amazing man in both life and spirit. A Yoda of sorts. " Happiness is always here, but covered by thoughts, desires and fears."" No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted." " The most wasted day is that in which we have not laughed.""Fate knows where you are going, but it is up to you to drive there."
I was sitting on a chair, surrounded by muscle bound Chippendale yummies, when.....my husbands snoring falsetto made me bolt into an upright position. Wearily, I blinked my eyes a few time, experienced a moment of dj vu, then grabbed the pillow and ground my loving spouses face into it. He woke up sputtering, "Honey why did you do that?" Hell, if I couldn't get a full nights zzz's, neither could he. What can I say, I'm not a fan of nasally serenades. It's just not romantic. The last stats the National Sleep Foundation gave stated that 59% of all Americans snore. Well, we belonged to that g...
