Obscure Beginnings
In 1973, Oceanside California was, as yet, an untouched community. The population consisted mostly of military families, tomato farmers and migrant workers. But even putting all those together didn't give you a huge population.
It was in this obscure setting that Joshua Boswell came into the world.
His father was a border patrol agent and his mother a fine domestic goddess commanding a family of 3 boys and one girl. They lived in a lonely house at the top of a large hill on the far outskirts of town. Tomato fields surrounded them on every side, extending to the east almost as far as the eye could see.
Vast Cultural Experience
But Joshua was not destined to stay on that lonely hilltop. Before he graduated from High School, his family had moved more than 15 times from California to Illinois (and everywhere in between) putting Joshua in 11 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and one high school.
Following high school, Joshua set out on his own with a move to Europe where he lived in the Netherlands for two years as a missionary serving the Dutch people. Those years had a profound impact on Joshua. He says, "I learned to understand people from all walks of life - their passions, their fears, their dreams."
Joshua did not know it yet but those moves would give him a tremendous insight into different places and people a reservoir of knowledge and experience that continues to serve him well.
A Growing Family
Shortly after returning from Holland, Joshua met and married Margie Andersen of Mesa, Arizona.
Shortly being the key word there. They met on a Friday night, got engaged on the following Tuesday night and were married within 2 months. It was a whirlwind romance truly love at first sight.
Today the family whirlwind has not slowed down. Joshua and Margie are the proud parents of 8 children 3 Girls and 5 Boys.
One look inside the Boswell's lifestyle assures you that "family" is the primary focus. When Joshua is not writing, he is working or playing with his family.
He says, "Why the focus on family? Because I believe that at the end of the day no success in life, no matter how great, can compensate for failure in the home."
He adds, "When I was a teenager my mom cared for elderly people in our home. I saw some very wealthy, successful people at the end of their lives without a single loved one around them as they passed on. It was tragic. I vowed then to make family the central focus of my life."
A large family has had other benefits as well, providing Joshua with a point of reference to relate to and understand almost any anyone from almost any background.
Getting Down to Business
A varied cultural experience has been coupled with multi-faceted business experiences.
As a newlywed Joshua landed a job working for a nationally known public speaker. Starting out as office help, Joshua quickly found his way to being Mr. Ledbetter's right-hand-man. It was not long before he too found a passion for speaking, training and improving other's lives.
After 4 years of traveling around the country giving speeches and seminars, Joshua realized that traveling life did not equal family life. So he started a technology company designing custom database driven websites.
With a focus on working with non-profit organizations, the technology company regularly became involved in a number of fundraising efforts.
Since then Joshua has helped earn millions of dollars for non-profit, political, and for-profit organizations alike through powerful direct mail package, email campaigns, websites, brochures and events.
The Irony of Life
Joshua currently works as a freelance copywriter, specializing in direct response and marketing consulting.
Joshua laughs at the irony of becoming a professional writer, "My junior year in high school, my English teacher pulled me aside and gave me a searing critique of a short story I wrote - too wordy and bad grammar she said. Maybe she was right... but it sure pays well!"

The room was so richly and exquisitely decorated that you almost had to make a conscious effort to not focus on it.
Rich tapestries, ornately carved oak mantle piece, fine leather and upholstered furniture, gorgeous armoire, rich family photos, fine paintings, costly vases and a myriad of other things reached out and grabbed for my attention.
But, their attempts were in vain. Despite my love of fine things, this night the artifacts and decorations were powerless to rob my energies or divert my gaze. No, tonight there was a different kind of magic in the room that was far more appealin...
