Restricting trade at the government level is counter-productive, and, unfortunately is something many countries have used against us. Witness Korea, exporting hundreds of thousands of vehicle for us to buy, but only allowing a few hundred North American vehicles to be sold there. We cannot justify being outraged over such restrictions if we impose them ourselves. Government agencies do have to reject goods based on safety findings of lead paint, botulism, etc. We have to ensure we reject toys with parts that children can swallow, painted with colours that can poison, and foods that are unf...
