I like to debate and write, and I am too educated for my own good, one BA, one post-baccalaureate degree, one Masters, and one Diploma in Education. However, I would like to thank Helium for offering such a great opportunity to voice my opinion. I have been doing research for many years and I get a kick out of reading people's opinion especially in the newspapers and magazine's section based on what people have to say. There are many factors that are common to most Westerns that don't vote. First,the issues have to be important to capture the public attention. If the there is no crisis within one's community the citizens tend to be apathetic. When the economy is doing well, low unemployment, crime is low, and no scandals by officials the public becomes complacent. There seems to be no need for change and a low voter turn out occurs due to a lack of issues within the community that requires a political solution.
