Richard Michael Holmes, a freelance writer, lives a double life. Six months a year, the icy, snowy, frigid months, he resides in sunny Venice, Florida. Late spring, summer and early fall finds him in upstate New York. Retired from forty-three years in a number of roles in secondary education, Holmes spends most of his free time, and he seems to have no shortage of it, reading and writing. He has been published in periodicals, journals and newspapers.
Holmes's most recent publication is his non-fiction book, "For Parents Only: Straight Talk from Inside the American Classroom." Expressly written for parents of high school students or soon-to-be high school students, it spells out in frank words the many ways that parents can help their children make the most of the high school years. Laced with humor that may offend some colleagues, each chapter is focused, dead-on accurate...and often brutally honest. Published in 2008, it is available from the publisher (PublishAmerica) or from the author himself via his e-mail address.
