About me

I have always enjoyed writing - creative or otherwise. When I went to college in 2001, I decided to take an English major. The next year I also took on a writing minor. I helped out with several on-campus publications, serving as a copyeditor and photographer for the newspaper and a proofreader and contributor to some of our other annuals. I was also very involved with the campus writing center. I'm now teaching 9th grade English and working to set up a writing center in that high school. By the end of 2008, I should have completed work to obtain my M.A. in English, as well.

I whole-heartedly disagree with the idea that young women just out of college shouldn't be allowed to teach high school students. It takes a completely different degree to teach younger students, so high school was my only option as far as teaching was concerned.

It's a matter of professionalism, and the schools are watching it. Everyone has a favorite teacher from their school days. Typically it's an adult that yo...
