About me - Jacquie Schmall

About me

I was brought up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, graduated from UConn with a degree in Zoology, and Chemistry, and trotted off to New York City to work at Rockefeller University. Before I married and moved to Brooklyn Heights, I also worked in a lab at New York University Medical Center. Later on, when my children were old enough, I went back to graduate school, and got my M.S. in Microbiology.

Life was never just science though, and as a singer, actor, and writer, I always managed to be near some kind of stage production. So when I moved to California in 1986, I participated in community theater whenever the opportunity presented itself.

During one of those productions I met a Randi, a Choreographer, who had just started a casting company. We became dear friends, and I worked as a colleague alongside her for many years, casting extras in film. Then one day I was the one cast, and did appear in a variety of films and TV shows including, "What Dreams May Come" and "Nash Bridges", and a variety of TV commercials.

In the mid 1990's I was the Executive Producer of a film called "Ultimate Reality" which won Best in Berkely at their annual film festival. I worked a bit as an actor and got lucky when I landed a job as the principal model for a line of greeting cards published by Portal Publications which have now been collected into a humorous book titled "Who's Counting, Jackie's Guide To Staying Young & Having Fun."

So, as it turned out, various of my careers unexpectedly blossomed mid-life and beyond. To my daily surprise, I'm still tilling the soil in the garden of creativity, and nurturing the tender shoots that manage to rise up to greet each sunrise.

I relocated to Houston, Texas in December of 2008, and joined The Houston Film Club Meetup. Since then, I have joined with a group of screenwriters, as well a fledgling production company.

I am currenly working on several screenplays, and a TV series.
