Choosing whether or not to be a pharmacy technician is not as big of a decision as choosing most careers. It is simply taking the national exam and getting employed. The only cost you will be out is the cost of the exam which runs around $125. I suggest spending some time, while waiting on your test results, watching the techs at a retail pharmacy while you are shopping to see if that fast paced environment is what you desire.
