I recently graduated from Marietta College with a BA in Journalism. I'm working on building my portfolio with articles on very diverse topics to demonstrate my ability to cover an array of subject matter..
My favorite genre of writing would definitely encompass the world of travel- I LOVE writing about people, places, experiences, and the like.
I've been published by Graffiti Magazine (graffitiwv.com), the Marietta Times (Marietta, Ohio; mariettatimes.com), The Anti Tourist (theantitourist.com), and Zonder (zonder.com). I'm always looking to expand my portfolio with additional assignments.
I also operate a private travel consulting service- Contemporary Pilgrim- focusing on seeking authenticity in your travels & genuinely experiencing the local flavors of a destination. For inquiries or questions, please email ashley@contemporarypilgrim.com.
Some of my published works can be found by visiting theantitourist.com & searching my first & last name (Ashley Halligan) or by visiting graffitiwv.com and doing the same.
I will be relocating to Austin, TX in mid-July and though I'm very excited for the next chapter of my life, I'm also terrified of sinking, rather than swimming. My heart will forever remain in my hometown of Marietta, OH where my beloved grandfather has raised & nurtured me to be the woman that I've become. I owe all of my successes in life to him- my failures I'll allocate elsewhere.. :)
Salute!
My passion is ...
discovery.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be a princess, archaeologist, environmental savior, and a Harley "mama."
My favorite memory ...
truly discovering love.
My inspiration ...
is to always be a contemporary pilgrim.

Using the perimeter of the US as an outline and venturing inward, every imaginable landscape is present. Between the Pacific coast, the outer edges of New England, and the Gulf of Mexico, rests some of the most diverse, beautiful, and photographed scenery in the world. Northern California is a surreal and picturesque corner of the country with almost oxymoronic landscapes as neighbors. Views from the northernmost co...
