Not your usual literary type. I have struggled throughout my life with a tendancy to lean heavily to the physical side of activities. Reading and sedentary tasks challenge me . But, being a lover of life, philosphy, analytical tought, history and of course literature because that is usually the deliverer of history, I have disciplined myself towards such - even as far as doing an English Major in university.
I minored in fine arts and spend much of my spare time involved in fine arts projects - mostly painting large format, high realism portraits, research and study of art history. Lately teaching and always viewing art.
When I set my mind to either channel - the literary and the visual arts I can produce and sometimes succeed in producing something worth sharing but settling to a task all the way to completion is a struggle.
I have been a copywriter, a technical writer and have written one article on choices for the developmentally disabled for a very small publication and an article on bullying for a US wide glossy trade publication, small bios and marketing articles masked as news for newspaper sand other small trade magazine marketing articles.
I worked as an editor to a novelist - mostly editing one novel to completion and doing some reading and minor editing on a few plays and other stories.
I've been spending the majority of my spare time in the last 2 years working on developing my hobby, hopefully some day more than that, of photography.
During the day I am a Community Support Practitioner - that is a cross between a teacher/tutor and a care-giver to the developmentally disabled.
I'd like to use Helium to teach myself to be a consistent writer and explore a wide variety of topics. I hope I can also being to be remunerated for some of my writing.

Keep you life in balance by making a mental re-adjustment the first thing you do each day. Do you wake with a feeling of dread? I have often heard friends and co-workers tell how difficult it was to get out of bed. They commiserate about how often they hit "snooze" before dragging themselves out of bed. We all know that momentary "Oh, no - not another work day", that can hit us as we wake. Become conscious of what your first though of the day is, because it is at that moment that the tone for the day is set. So, we must banish negativity, otherwise this overpowering emotion will set us off...
