I'm a mother of four grown children [that still make me groan at times] and five grandchildren. A love of reading came early and a love of writing came soon after.
My paternal grandmother gave me a dictionary early in life so that I could learn more about the words I heard every day. That got me into trouble in school because I could spell and define words that other kids my age hadn't even heard until I used them in conversation. Then my maternal grandfather gave me a thesaurus, giving me more ammunition in my arsenal [toy box?] of words.
Science fiction, a specific genre mostly, science fantasy, some paranormal, horse stories, western novels, and poetry have always been favorites. One could always find me with my nose buried in a book, so far that I didn't hear what was going on around me.
My computer is my toy [sometimes a frustrating one], my window, and my outlet for thoughts and peeves. Writing keeps me sane [some people don't agree] and keeps me focused on moving ahead. Writing makes me pay more attention to what is happening around me in the world. Details are important and observation is ingrained. Reporting on a happening, be it a car wreck or an air show, requires attention to details and observation of the little things others don't notice. This site has given me an outlet and an educational source as well.
I try to give people the same courtesy I want for myself. Rewriting someone else's work, without their permission, to me is sacrilege and just plain rude. Changing another person's work to suit my own ideas is the same as plagiarism in my book because it is stealing their ideas.
Sometimes my sense of humor gets away from me and gets a little bizarre. The imagination goes wild and anything goes, as long as it's clean of course.

My childhood ambition ...
To be a published writer
My favorite memory ...
too many to count
Why I write ...
to get feelings out, express my thoughts, and have fun with my imagination
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
country music, drama shows, Star Trek books and Anne McCaffrey
My first job ...
mowing lawns and yard maintenance at age 11, also shoveling snow.
My best moment ...
After having my kids, realizing that I am free to express myself with my favorite toys, words.
My inspiration ...
life, my kids and grandkids, friends, and a wild imagination, anything that interests me at that moment of writing.
Has anyone considered that the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ rule might just be a safety protocol to keep gay individuals from being killed by their fellow soldiers? It is already considered a morale issue for soldiers because ‘straight’ individuals often feel uncomfortable around ‘gay’ people, especially when they are openly displaying their sexual proclivities. There is also the issue of ‘recruiting’ by gay individuals to gain more partners in their activities. Regular military barracks have improved over the decades to the point of s...
