About me - Lokemun Magar

About me

As a teacher by profession, I taught for twenty-three years in the same school, under six Principals who groomed me into a capable and divergent thinker and servant leader. I headed the Mathematics Department and learnt to teach a wide repertoire of children with learning disabilities before I resigned to teach my son who had learning needs and pursue an online course in writing, my lifelong passion, in the five months spent as a homemaker.

After I led my son to succeed academically despite his disabilities, I returned to teaching part-time so that I could continue to my her skills in helping children with special needs, have the school holidays to serve the needy in Cambodia and help my son achieve further successes. I delight in energising able-bodied and academically excellent children to help their classmates with special needs integrate into their classes and succeed in their studies. In doing so, I will be honing new generations of citizens who are caring, selfless and capable of integrating anyone into their circle of friendship.

My writing and leadership capabilities were recognised by Helium.com and I served as first as the Seafood Sub-subchannel Site Steward and then as the Food Channel Steward for a pre-determined year before I started stewarding in the Special Needs Sub-subchannel in the Parenting and Pregnancy Channel in March 2009 to tie in with my passion to use my writing and my stewardship capabilities to build a community of learned writers as resources to help parents of children with special needs.

In my twenty months at Helium.com, my articles have risen from 200-word scribbles to solid articles of at least 800 words. My musical and artistic talents, as well as my love for trying out new interests, has enabled me to contribute articles in a wide number of channels.

I desire to use my writing to help the less fortunate. I have a personal website http://www.thamlokemun.com. It provides a free online platform for small businesses in Asian countries.

My first article was sold before the creation of Marketplace. You will find it at http://www.thebabybin.com/kids-health/raising-an-active-chil d-2/ . Two others have also been sold under the Helium Stock Content Programme: The mental benefits of running and Making craft projects from recycled goods .

I am uniquely created - you will never find another me on this earth, just as you will never find another you. I have one love: Jesus and many passions: traveling, writing and photography.

Blessings to you in the Name of our Lord Jesus!

Just me,

Mun

Villageworks Cambodia is where you find Songkhem - a glimpse of hope for the starving poor. The souvenirs are the works of villagers. 'Songkhem' is the Khmer word for 'hope'.

Villageworks Songkhem brings a message that is entirely opposite to the Museum's. Situated just opposite the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh, the souvenir shop is aptly named Villageworks Songkhem.

While the Museum speaks of terror, destruction and annihilation that occurred during the internal turmoil of Pol Pot Cambodia in the Nineteen Seventies, Villageworks Songkhem brings the rebirth of peace, integra...
