About me - Marsha Moore

About me

I am a single mom of two girls and we reside in Portage Indiana. After the birth of my youngest daughter, I was afflicted with an unknown condition that left me paralyzed from the waist down. As a result, I went from being financially stable, to become dependent on my family and community. Over the years, I not only have had to learn to walk and regain independence, but I have learned some valuable lessons about humility, generosity, and spiritual strength.

My writings reflect my struggles and observations on a personal, spiritual, and social level.

I have a love for the theater, scrap booking, and for the unconventional. My motto: "Don't just think outside of the box...throw the box away!"

Strength in Virginia's Words (BACKGROUND ON THIS ESSAY)  Virginia is my mom's sister, who died from ovarian cancer at the age of 22, in 1951, when having cancer was a guaranteed death sentence. She handled her illness with a level of dignity and grace that I wish I had.  This passage was written by her a little over a year before her death, November 30, 1950. It was sealed until after she died, when it was read to her family and friends, and published in a local newspaper.
