About me - John Nevola

About me

Currently retired.

I worked at IBMer for almost 40 years.  My writing and public relations skills grew when I transferred into IBM Business Recovery Services in 1989.  I eventually became the Manager of Service Delivery for North America and was involved in over one hundred actual business recoveries and published over a dozen articles based on these experiences.  My articles have appeared in The Disaster Recovery Journal, Crisis Magazine, National Underwriter, The Security Management Bulletin, The International Journal of Network Management and the Chubb Newsletter. I also contributed a chapter to the book, Disaster Recovery Testing - Exercising Your Contingency Plan.

I am a lifetime member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Disaster Recovery Journal Magazine (inactive).  In my earlier life, I wrote a column for the Sidewinder, the post newspaper for Yuma Proving Ground while serving in the United States Army.  More recently I have been published on the Internet with a satirical article hosted on Conservative Battleline Online.

As a frequent speaker at various disaster recovery user groups and industry conferences, I also shared my expertise in this field by being frequently interviewed and widely quoted (over 100) in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Computerworld, Information Week, Contingency Planning and Management, The New York Times, Networking Magazine and with appearances on JATV (Japanese Television), the BBC and The Wall Street Journal Report on CBS.

I am a member of the Military Writer’s Society of America and have recently completed the historical novel “The Last Jump” which will be published in May 2010.
