I have always loved writing and began in my teens with poetry. I write for the enjoyment of it. I also consider my writing to be a gift. My Grandmother had many articles published in local papers and my uncle was a writer as well. I have had several stories and poems published online, and just a couple of poems published in books. Perhaps a career will spring forth, perhaps not, but I will continue to write.
I have spent the majority of my adult career in both retail, and medical history investigating. I have VAST experience in life itself! Currently, I have a Nebraska/South Dakota Itinerary and Travel Planning Business.
I am very interested in Native American Culture and Tradition. I do a lot of work on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S.D. I shouldn't say I do work...as it is my pleasure. Paha-Ska (who was an icon in Keystone for 50 years, was a dear man, and I still call his wife (Susan), my friend.
Humor is very important to me. Honesty is imperitive as well.
I am happy to be a member of Helium and look forward to sharing and reading many wonderful articles here.

The term "Native American" could easily be confused with any person native (born in) to America. "Indian" is a term which is preferred by many of the Lakota who are my friends; however, this name was given them in error when Christopher Columbus thought he had reached India instead of America. Original American would be a more accurate term to describe American Indians. In my opinion, it is all a matter of what is politically correct. To be technical, those living on the reservation are not IN the United States, as reservations are Sovereign Nations. I wonder how that fits into the picture...
