JoAnne came into the world with a pen in one hand and a notebook in the other. She landed her first writing job at the age of 12, writing a column for a local newspaper in New Mexico for the grand sum of seven cents an inch.
She has sold articles to several national magazines and regional newspapers and contributed to several national and regional newsletters. The most recent of these is a "Weeders Digest" marketplace article sale.
She edited and produced two newsletters, one for a church and the other for ARC Children’s Services, an agency serving parents of handicapped preschoolers. She contributed to several national newsletters.
She served as a parent member on the Committee for Special Education at her children's school for nine years and learned a lot about special needs children and different teaching methods. She raised six children with a variety of handicapping conditions, including an autistic, mentally challenged boy.
Presently, she serves as the Missions Coordinator of her church. She keeps track of various missionaries and learns about countries that they serve. From their emails and newsletters, she hears of conditions in the world not often reported, thereby giving a unique slant to her writings.
