I’m a 4th year MBBS Undergraduate, 2 stars Helium writer, and currently a level 4 writer at Elance.

I’m Sharmal Kelambi, aged 24, from Galle, 4th year Medical Student at University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka.

I received both my primary and secondary education from Richmond College. My school life was a pleasant and a successful one, starting with winning the Gold Medal for Mathematics at Grade 3, from University of New South Wales, Australia. That was for being the island first at that respective age group. From that point onwards, I was always a keen student at my work.

Writing has always been a passion for me, starting from a very young age. I used to write both prose and poetry as a child. However it was when I was at the age of 16, that I became the island first for essay writing (Sinhala medium) at a competition organized by the Law College. This was a real turning point in my writing life. Up to this day, that award remains the highest honor I have ever received for my writing.

My online freelance work runs almost back to the year 2007. That was when I finished my school career. Having gained entrance to the Medical Faculty, I took my writing passion to a whole new level.

Coming from a small island nation in the Indian Ocean and not being a native English speaker, online freelance writing gave me a chance to reach to the world as well as to improve my English writing skills. For most part I must thank Helium for mentoring me to the writer I am today. I write for personal pleasure and it makes me really proud to know that my work is admired by others from around the world.
