Just like most of the writers on this subject, I think the English national team is extremely overrated, its players are conceited, and in general England, as a football team, and as a nation, does not command -or deserve- the respect it once had around the world. Comments made by England striker Michael Owen typified English haughtiness that many still find so pervasive and insulting.
