About me - Kim Bentz

About me

A writer, poet, singer, gardener, wife, mom, grandma. I'm a singer, a speaker, and that person who can never quit get everything done, but will have people over anyway!

After raising a family I am preparing to go back to school for the degree I've always regretted not getting. I'm glad now that I did not get to finish college in my early 20's 'cause I would be an engineer simply to impress people at my high school reunion! By now I probably would have quit to run off with the circus or signed on to retrace the voyage of Leif Erickson to the new world in a reproduction knarr!

Most importantly, I have found peace with God. Having a friendship with God, personal and real has changed me, and continues to change me.

Religion & Spirituality > Christian Doctrine & Issues Christianity and the environment: Toward an ethic of stewardship

I once surprised a co-worker by expressing a concern for taking care of the world around us. He said something to the effect of "but aren't you a conservative and a Christian?" My response was gentle, but my thought was that of all people on earth, Christians and conservatives should be conservationist. After all, as a Christian I am told that I am a steward of the earth. A steward cares for the affairs and property of others. In some cultures a steward is a servant or a slave. In western culture a steward is a professional who takes care of someone else's assets on their behalf. They have...
