HI EVERYBODY
I am a 65 year old father of three and grandfather of three. My youngest granddaughter has Spina Bifida so we have become quite involved with the Spina Bifida Association Activities. She is doing quite well and we have so much to be thankful for.
I was a heavy equipment operator that retired January 1st 2008. I will probably work part time when work is available. We originally planned to move back down South and raise a big garden and lots of fruit. Now it looks like we are going to stay close to the grandkids. Just can't leave the little darlings. I love to cook and try new recipes and add things I like to change them. Two of my very favorite foods are rhubarb and jalapenos. I use them in a lot of my recipes.
I am a fifth generation Mason and a Shriner and I hope to get into a Southern Gospel Quartet once I retire. My wife and I have been married almost 40 years.
I am a diabetic with type II diabetes which so far I am able to control with diet and exercise and oral medication. My two dogs help me with my motivation to walk everyday.
I just recently had a big tumor removed from my bladder that was caused from smoking cigarettes. I am lucky in the fact that my cancer was non-invasive. So if you smoke, QUIT, you may not be so lucky.

If you want to be sure that you have enough money to live on in your retirement years, I don't think that it is ever to early to start saving toward that end. There are some people that will hit it big in the stock market or win the lottery but the biggest majority of us will have what we save on our own. With the DEEP debt that the present administration has plunged us into, I certainly wouldn't count on social security and that is not enough to live on anyway. Some people will inherit a bunch of money but most of us will have what we save and invest as we are approaching retirement.
