You can't go wrong with a color party. You simply ask your child to pick his or her favorite color and voila, you've got the makings of a party. When you choose a character like Barbie or Spiderman it will cost you ie., matching plates, napkins, hats, etc. But if you have a color party you can coordinate everything in the color your child chooses. Games are easy too because you are not following an "official" theme.
