About me - Tad Wesley

I graduated from Indiana State University with a BS in Economics and Political Science in 2001, but of course my current line of work has nothing to do with that at all. I actually work in the Home Equity lending department of a regional bank in our area.

Politics, News & Issues > Political & Economic Theory Should the United States abandon the Federal Reserve?Smallicon
1 of 20

The Federal Reserve System is one of the very few good ideas our Congress has created, because it takes monetary policy out of the hands of lawmakers who have very little clue what they're doing, and puts it into the hands of the nations top economists. The Chairmanship is also staggered opposite that of the Presidential elec... More..

Politics, News & Issues > Climate Change Predicting the end of the world from global warming
2 of 29

I don't think there's any real doubt that climate change is occurring. Of the ten hottest years on record (over about 180 years), 6 of those years have been since 1995. What IS in doubt is the following:- How much of this warming, if any, is due to human activity?- Is this warming just a temporary "warm spell" or a long term ... More..

Politics, News & Issues > War in Iraq Should Saddam Hussein be put to death?
2 of 27

There is no question that the rule of Saddam Hussein was responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, not just in his own country, but as a result of his long war with Iran, as well as his unprovoked attack on the sovereign emirate of Kuwait. However, that does not mean that he should himself be executed. His execution wil... More..

For as long as there have been people, they have looked up at the night sky with wonderment, and sometimes fear. There have been a lot of weird songs written over the years, and any discussion of weird songs has to begin with the man with "Weird" in his name. Hobbies & Games > Role Playing & War Games The best current RPGs
2 of 24

I think the best RPG system going at the moment would be the Dungeons & Dragons system, version 3.5. This is produced by Wizards of the Coast. This is actually a major concession on my part, because I really did not care particularly for previous editions of D&D, before 3.0. My favorite roleplaying system historically has been... More..

With the NCAA Men's basketball tournament field once again set, most office work will again come to a standstill for a few days, while the annual ritual of picking the winners of an office pool become prevalent again. The reason this is so fun and so appealing is because it's such a total crap shoot. Football player salaries are determined in exactly the same way as my salary/wage is determined, or yours, or your mother's.Football players have unique physical skills which can not be easily learned by others. If they could, I would play football now. Nobody but Barry Sanders could run like Barry Sanders ran, so he was irre... More..

Sports & Recreation > College Football Why there are male cheerleaders in college football, but not in the NFL
1 of 8

Actually, the premise is not correct. There are male cheerleaders in the NFL. I know of at least 1 of the 32 teams that employ them, the Baltimore Ravens. I'm pretty sure there is at least one or two others in the NFL as well, but I know the Ravens have had male cheerleaders for a number of reasons.Still, they are clearly mor... More..
