About me - Rick London

About me

I'm a simple animal-loving, nature loving, environmentally-friendly writer, cartoonist, and
e-entrepreneur.

was a late bloomer, as I battled a fatal disease until
age 48, had been misdiagnosed (but close) for almost 25 years and received the wrong health-care. A cure was
found in Sept. 2004, and I received the surgery in
January of 2005.

In the past decade, I have tried to make up for lost time. If I may offer a few bragging rights, I founded Londons Times Cartoons in 1997. It has evolved to become the largest and most visited offbeat cartoon site on the Internet.

I later founded niche stores which sell my images on
funny tees, mouse pads, mugs, greeting cards, clocks,
magnets, keychains, you name it. They can be found
at several of my stores www.ricklondonfunnygifts.info
and www.ricklondoncollection.com . I have a specialty
clothing line featured at www.ricklondonwear.com.
My latest venture is Rick London Organics, featuring
100% cotton organic tees for men and women made with
totally non-toxic dyes. Bono of U2 produces the fabric
for our women's tees and American Apparel for our male tees.

I finished 3 years of college at Western Governor's University www.wgu.edu in business, but more health issues put that on hold though I plan to finish (I am 53 as of this writing).

I cared for my dog "Thor", a rescue stray Benji-looking mix, I found in the woods of Ms. while disabled. I put him on the b.a.r.f.
diet (bones and raw food) and he lived to be (the vet believes) close to 22. He was one great dog. Sadly, I lost him November.

I was born and raised in Hattiesburg, Ms, and now make my home in Hot Springs, Ar. high in the Ouachata Mountains. The town has the perfect mix of nature/country and cosmopolitan. Very much to do with only 35,000 or so residents.

My goal is to continue to write and work on my cartoon venture, hopefully return to school, and venture into some other Internet ventures that are evolving as I write this.

My main love is writing, and would love one day to spend most my work hours pecking away at the keyboard.

Jobs & Careers > Job Search (Other) How to deal with unemployment during a recession

When I was in my thirties and even early forties, I was a workaholic. My boss in Washington media never failed to tell me I was a great problem solver and backed his words with raises which I much appreciated. I was certain this was going to be my life until I retired when I might be in my eighties or so. At age 42, I fell ill and was put on the side lines. My unemployment ran out soon thereafter and, though the illness disabled me, I did not receive disability for four more years. How did I live? It boiled down to being handed crumbs. I had to buy cars that friends were trading in because...
