I live in a small town in the mountains of Colorado. I grew up in various cities and don't adhere to the small town mentality. I have four (pain in the neck) boys, and 8 year old, two 6 year old, and a 9 month old. I am happily married to the most wonderful work-from-home dad ever! When I'm not helping my husband chasing after a bunch or rowdy boys, I'm either sleeping or working as the "go-to girl" at a rock quarry. (I think that it was a good thing that I had all boys. I don't know that a daughter would be soooo cool that mom works with heavy equipment and big trucks. Needless to say my boys love coming to work with me!)
Radio, television, magazines, books and religion can send mixed messages to teenagers. This constant barrage of contradictory messages can confuse and embarrass teens, and do very little to help. Sex education in the United States is terrible, and teens have to look up to older teens and young adults who have already made their mistakes. These kind of mixed signals can cause early teen pregnancy, the spread of disease, and poor self-esteem. There are ways of taking your child's sexual education into your own hands.
