Hi,
Greetings from the little red dot and no, by that I don't mean planet Mars but a country called Singapore right here on planet Earth. It's often referred to as a little red dot due to its size on world maps - a little red dot right under Malaysia.
I'm Singaporean by birth and Indian by cultural roots, my ancestors having migrated from India to Singapore two generations ago.
A poet, I've been writing poetry for 20 years now. I've only just started getting confident enough to publish some of my work.
My hobbies include salsa, reading, writing, swimming, dancing, painting and day dreaming.
Best wishes.
My passion is ...
reading. I like the idea of escaping into another world with the characters.
I know too much about ...
nothing. I don't think you can ever know too much about something. There's always loads to learn.
My parents always told me ...
to not be so honest as I might get hurt someday.
My childhood ambition ...
to be a doctor. Considering my biology grades, god help anyone who cared to be attended by me :-)
My favorite memory ...
sitting with my grandfather.
Why I write ...
Writing helps me to express my thoughts and feelings.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Patricia Cornwell, Pirates of the Caribbean - At the World's End, Somebody Like You by Keith Urban
My first job ...
was as a social worker in a children's home.
My best moment ...
knowing that my grandfather loved me unconditionally and that in his eyes I could never do wrong.
My inspiration ...
memories of my childhood with my grandparents.
Christmas to me, is a time of joy, of giving and celebrating the birth of Christ. To cut a tree for that celebration is a paradox. We are celebrating the birth of Christ and yet killing a living thing; a tree. At a time when global warming is threatening the environment in which we live in, it is worth considering saving trees rather than further eroding our planet. The loss of several thousands/millions of trees durign Christmas could affect the already fast depleting natural resources/ defences we have to counter gloal warming. If we keep chopping trees down just for a few weeks of stick...
