Arlene Wright-Correll (1935- _), popular American award winning Artist, free lance writer, & avid gardener, at the age of 68, decided to pick up her paint brushes again after 54 years and paint, in mostly gouache watercolors and pastels, the flowers, herbs and fruits that grow at Home Farm Herbery in Munfordville, KY. She also writes about them, wine, and is the author of many "How To" articles. She is the creator and writer for "Who's Who in KY Arts and Crafts".
Though she paints in all mediums, she likes to use the Gouache paints, which are a heavy, opaque watercolor paint, sometimes called body color, producing a less wet-appearing and more strongly colored picture than ordinary watercolor. Occasionally, she will paint something from her world travels especially of Scotland, Ireland, or the Mediterranean. She is fond of those old memories. Her work can be seen at www.learn-america.com/stories/storyReader$158
Her original paintings are sold quite quickly and one can always try and pick up whatever current one she is working on. The amazing thing about this "young" artist is that as a mother of 5 & the grandmother of 5, she is also a cancer and stroke survivor who is able to strive forward each and everyday to welcome the beauty of this small planet. She is the resident artist and art teacher at Avalon Stained Glass School & Studio who also creates and teaches in fused glass.

Just When We Thought We Were Winning
As an avid gardener, as a senior citizen on limited income, as a survivor of "the Great Depression", what we are dealing with today with our crumbling economy gives me a great deal to think about.
As a gardener, a supporter of local farmers markets, roadside stands and an advocate of bring back the Victory garden I find it really hard to control my anger at the immoral idiots in Congress who "feed" at the trough of the big corporations such as Monsanto, Cargill, Tysons, ADM and others. These corporate giants are trying very hard to stop us from ...
