About me - M.L. Bushman

About me

I've been writing nearly every day since the age of eight. At thirteen, I turned to poetry and song lyrics after teaching myself to play guitar. I've earned a BS degree from the School of Hard Knocks after over twenty-five years pursuing a singer/songwriter's dream ended when a Ford Bronco smacked the rear end of my Olds Cutlass at forty-five miles an hour. For the next six years I didn't write a word.

In August of 2002, I happened across an online writing course that wasn't pure fluff, and by the end of six weeks I had a nice little story, a bunch of people telling me I had talent, plus I came away with what Stephen King calls the buzz. I've been hooked (some claim possessed) ever since. A single mom, my eight-year-old daughter and I make our home in the Sun River Valley northwest of Great Falls, Montana.

On May 1, 2007, Jigsaw Press released Miracle, the novel, a paranormal thriller. On August 22, 2008, they released The Implausible Hero in hardcover and eBook. They have optioned several more of my stories including Third Warp, and Elijah, first book in the series of the same name.

I am presently working on my sixteenth novel.

I was recently offered a salaried position with the Fairfield Sun Times. Currently, I work for them as a reporter while I get up to speed on all aspects of the operation and in a month or so, I will be promoted to editor of the newspaper.

Politics, News & Issues > Economic News Should AIG executives be forced to return bonuses paid with federal bailout money?

The AIG "debate" is a politician's dream come true. A smoke-screen issue of such proportion and opacity-and value-that nearly anything might be floated behind it, and missed. These bonuses constitute barely a minute fraction of the total spending going on in Washington DC these days. The educated citizen is not giving in to the knee-jerk emotional reaction and screaming "off with their heads!" The savvy political observer is seeking what the smoke hides and who benefits the most. For example, while members on committees were thundering in righteous indignation against the AIG bonuses, gran...
