My name is Shirley Gooding and I love to write about politically incorrect topics. As of today I have written 96 articles but for some strange reason I still do not understand I have no writing stars. I love debates but still have problems with this goofy system accessing "all debates" I have trouble rating things because inevitably during a debate article it just spins that little round thingy and does not submit my rating. Maybe in the next few years I'll figure it out. In the meantime I will continue to express my opinions and share my knowledge of various subjects. I have been married to my husband Forrest for 25 years as of 9/15/2009. I continue to go to school even though I will be 60 in June. I am currently working on AA degrees in Music and Theater Arts. I plan to go back for my Masters this August. That will give me 4 AAs, a BA and and MA. I love being a student! My grand daughter is 3 now and my son is 23. Looking forward to another year of writing for Helium and going to school.

In California we periodically have El Nino, a weather pattern that brings rain to our desert state. These events are caused by ocean currents that get warmer and affect the trade winds which will often bring us the Pineapple Express storms from Hawaii. When we are not in an El Nino year we are experiencing a drought, usually lasting 5-7 years. This has been going on since records have be...
