Living in Maryland with my husband and children, I find myself feeling rather content. Writing was always a hobby, something I did in my spare time, when I wasn't swamped with my career in the medical field, my family, and life in general. But, now staring forty in the face, I have begun to shift some of my priorities.
I have more time to actually sit down to write and my love of the written word, my awe at the power of it, is addictive!
A big THANK YOU to all the other writers and readers here at Helium. It's far from the only writing I do, but the atmosphere here is welcoming and the learning we can do from one another is a wonderful opportunity.
My passion is ...
God and children.
I know too much about ...
human frailty.
My parents always told me ...
to use comon sense, follow God's laws and think, at least briefly, before I leap. It was the best advice I could have ever hoped for.
My childhood ambition ...
was to marry Marshal Dillon or John Wayne - either one would have done fine.
My favorite memory ...
revolves around my grand- and great grand parents. Their presence and influence in my life taught much. Not the least of which was the importance of life experience and the benefits of seeking advice from those who have more of it than myself.
Why I write ...
is a complicated answer. I have a lot to say. My life has not been the easiest, nor has it, I'm positive, been the hardest. I most definitely have learned a few things along the way. But changing thoughts into coherent words in such a way that others find the reading of them pleasurable...well, it's a high, you might say. I feel most content when I have created something worth reading.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Christian rock and country, Bon Jovi and Chopin, SpongeBob and Spiderman and The Bourne Identity, Tim Lahaye and Tom Clancy, Stargate SG1 and NCIS
My first job ...
lasted only one day. It was at a donut shop, and I knew immediately that working there for any length of time would result in horrid consequences for my hips.
My best moment ...
was when I was saved. Never have I had a feeling quite like it, before or since. Accepting Christ into my life chnaged it forever and started me on a path that has brought me right to this very point, this very place in life.
My inspiration ...
is the children who surround my life. I want very much to impart, through my writing, something that they can keep with them always. My thoughts and feelings, my personality and beliefs, my very essence in words.
All I want for Christmas is...a teen that skips right past the teen years, and launches directly into the more reasonable and rational young adulthood. Is that realy so much to ask, Santa? I myself have been a very good girl all year. I've been patient and understanding, bitten my tongue nearly in half when I wanted to scream and I've worked diligently at learning how to give them their "space". This holiday, after such a rough year filled with teen mishaps, I feel I deserve to get anything I want for Christmas. And what I want most is the Teen Eliminator 4000 Delux. There's no need to bri...
