"You're late. Why are you late?" he asked me as soon as I stepped in. It was 1:15 pm on a Tuesday afternoon.
In my childish Tagalog (Philippine language) slur, I was able to say, "Yes, yes I am. I had some work to do." I wanted to say "You know I apologize.
