I've always had the gift of expression when meeting with people in small groups or larger settings to connect in an intimate way and have them truly share and open up to me. This has been one of my more prized skills in the Business Development arena and people often say after watching this take place time and again "Everyone Loves Darren".
Now before you might take away from that I'm a megalomaniac, I should share with you briefly my upbringing. I became homeless as a teenager for two-and-half years. I literally lived in the streets begging for food and one night sought shelter in a parking lot. That night changed my life as it was the parking lot of a small gym, and the members and owner took me in, nicknamed me 'Pup' short for puppy and became my surrogate family.
Within 6 months I had gone from being homeless to living in a condo on a golf course in one of the nicest areas in northern California.
Later I represented the USA and won the IFBB Mr. North America (middleweight) Class.
One minute, I was healthy and secure teenager; the next, my life was transformed and filled with uncertainty. I'd been able to reunite with my Father. Then six months later I was only seconds away from being able to stop him from committing suicide.
This put me on a personal journey to explore everything else in life, other than the traditional version of God.
During this time I co-founded a nutrition company which exploded in growth and made me a multi-millionaire by 27. I of course have had other life lessons along the way, which have simply been added chances to learn what one day I will teach.
Many people have confused my resilience as toughness. While toughness can be an advantage in business, because it allows you to separate emotion from the negative consequences of difficult choices, it can also be a disadvantage because it can cut you off from love and many other resources and gifts you need to bounce back after crisis. Resilience, by contrast, is mostly about absorbing challenges-not deflecting them-and rebounding stronger than before.
I've learned a number of lessons about Spiritual Growth in the face of adversity. For instance, although crisis distorts reality by reinforcing your fears, it also puts an emphasis on what matters right now; it highlights what's important to you and what you're capable of.
Another major lesson is that loss amplifies the value of what remains, pushing you to take stock of what you have and to celebrate your life/assets. Perhaps most important, you can't know what will happen tomorrow-and it's better that way, because it's far more rewarding to engage with the present.
My strategic business development and marketing firm, Kairos-Meade has the following vision statement:
"You are to become a creator, not a competitor; you are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it every other man will have more than he has now.
Give every man more in use value than you take from him in cash value; then you are adding life to the world by every business transaction.
If you have people working for you, you must take from them more in cash value than you pay them in wages; but you can so organize your business that it will be filled with the principle of advancement, and so that each employee who wishes to do so may advance a little every day."
In April of 2008 my aorta ruptured in 3 places, and the doctors were amazed I was still alive on the operating table. They gave me a less than 10% chance to live. Later, they told me I would never walk again, and that I would be on a catheter for the rest of my life (did they not know I was always an over achiever..wink). The lady I planned to marry left me 10 days after I returned home from the hospital. In all of this I found a true peace, love and understanding of self that never came even though I intellectualized so many spiritual concepts. I'm appreciative of the time you've spent reviewing this. My intention is either become a writer/lecturer about these Truths. Or, to find one last company in which to create a success which can better the world based on the vision statement above. I hope to hear from you in the very near future to arrange for us to meet in person and discuss just how my qualifications may be of value to your organization.

Minimal understanding and recognition is given to the fact that the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights of the United States were formulated and written by Freemasons who were deists and theist and not religionists. Thus, there is the guarantee of freedom FROM the government imposition of religion (theocracy) as well as freedom OF expression of religion. The original pilgrims who founded America sought freedom from persecution and religious liberty of expression (Napolitano, 2006). Please read that again, 'There is a guarantee of freedom FROM the governmen...
