My name is Mary Curtis. I am the author of "Compete With Meat" and "Eat Smart" and "The Practical Vegetarian" as well as several articles and E-Editions on vegetarianism and vegetarian cooking. I also have worked as a newspaper journalist and columnist and have covered consumer protection.
I am an avid reader. My non-fiction interests cover a wide range...basically any article or piece which is well-written and insightful will grab my interest...but I particularly like philosophy, religion and spiritual study, health-related topics, and also current news, political, and social issues.
When it comes to fiction I enjoy reading a good thriller or mystery. My favorite fictional authors are Stephen King and James Michener. I like King for his smooth-flowing writing style and vivid storytelling. Michener's expertise to weave historical fact into his fiction is informative to read as well as extremely enjoyable.
My hobbies include gourmet vegetarian cooking, knitting, and crocheting. I reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, with my husband of over 30 years.
Currently, I am working on a novel.
