Gloria Muhammad is a Muslim, member of the Nation of Islam under the Leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. She is the mother of one adult daughter, Monique. She lives in Calumet City, Illinois and holds a Master's degree from Roosevelt University in Public Administration.
She is the author of a newly published book entitled THAT SMILE FROM HEAVEN. It is a book of poetry by this native of rural Yazoo County, Mississippi. Her mother made her transition when Gloria was 8 years old, Her Aunt, LeBertha Owens became her "mother" despite having 8 children of her own with the addition of a ninth child a few years later.
Gloria has been writing poetry since she was a young child, however, she worked diligently on her book shortly after her release from the hospital...having been told by doctors that she would not walk again, due to the damage caused by colon cancer which was diagnosed at the same time her daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer. Not only is Gloria walking...and writing poetry, but she is "living" and celebrating her life with a daughter and two granddaughters.

After hearing the untimely news of Michael Jackson's death, I immediately realized how fond I am of that man.
