About me - Matthew Scott

About me

I am a twenty-four year old male from the State of Maine. Recently, I received my bachelor's degree in Business Administration, concentration in marketing, and now I work in the insurance profession.

More than anything, I loathe the moniker. Some people would just love to pigeon-hole me, but I simply refuse to abide by this awful paradigm of debate. In fact, the ad hominem, an eminently fallacious, juvenile tactic of, essentially, evading intellectual accountability, is something to which I refuse to aid and abet. Seriously, this IS playground behavior, and having borne witness to this crap from our "adult" media and "adult" citizens is sickening. I am a sovereign individual; no ideology, corporation, person, or supposed holy deity can simply have me. I think for myself and refuse to close my mind; others should do the same.

My interests are many but shortly, it is with the areas of politics, social behavior, and philosophy to which I focus my efforts most. All of these subjects become tools to which I utilize to focus on more concrete issues, one of such being the ongoing consolidation of industries, specifically media and communications firms. After four years of much scrutiny in the marketing studies, specifically that of promotion and even more peculiarly, public relations, I have come to understand a great deal of how things work in society. One of my most important readings has been the work of Edward Bernays, the so-called father of public relations. To reasonably understand the evolution of public relations and the intertwining sciences in our societies is quite critical to my interpretation of things. If one is interested, the documentary "The Century of Self" is a rather good introduction into the matters specifically of public relations and its affects.

I have no website-yet-and have not truly endeavored to find a niche in any blog. Quite simply, if one is looking for more content or information, such will be forthcoming on this website and maybebut not surelyothers.

Politics, News & Issues > Party Politics & Ideology A country divided: Political tensions building in America

This country's politics is quite divisive; due to this, we are divided. But why are we divided? I would say, however, that this division, despite true political tensions that do exist, is false and constructed by puppeteers. Let us examine this supposed left vs right paradigm. What is the right as of now? From what I understand, the right, being conservative, is supposed to represent and maintain some sort of homeostasis. To ...
