About me - Samantha Herron

About me

I've always been a little different than most people. Not only have I had unusual things happen to me throughout my life, starting with childhood, but my views of life and the world are not those of the average person. This has lead to an early, and continuing, interest in ghosts, psychic phenomena, astrology, mythology, extraterrestrials, and much, much more.

By the time I reached my 20s, I was looking for a spiritual path that allowed for belief in all these things and reincarnation as well. In 1974, I became a follower of the Wiccan religion and have been on that path for 33 years now. I have been a High Priestess (female spiritual leader) for most of that time, establishing a state-recognized Temple in 1977 that still exists today. During the course of that time, I have taught others and, in 1997, put together a teaching manual that covers everything I have taught others (a mere 566 pages).

At some point, during that same time period, I started studying natal astrology. I began simply, doing charts for friends and relatives in order to practice. I was fortunate enough to gain the acquaintance of a man who taught me how to do the calculations necessary to set up a chart. This was a time before computers and even before people used calculators regularly, so everything I learned entailed brainpower and a pencil. To this day, I still work the same way. Although there are computer programs for astrology, I prefer the human touch coupled with intuition. I have compiled my own information for delineation of charts and, with the use of a computer, assemble natal charts for people in this manner.

During this same time period, I began my learning of the use of Tarot cards. Since I already believed that everyone has psychic abilities, they just need to be honed, I felt practice would lead to becoming good at reading for people. In the late 1970s, I read Tarot in a shop and had regular customers. In the 1980s, I even tried being a "phone psychic" but found that those who employed me were less than honest and wanted me to be that way so I quit that job.

I've always had a desire to write. I think it really began in the 1960s when I needed a way to express all the teenage frustration that I was feeling. I started writing a book about the town I lived in and the people I knew, especially those I went to school with, that would have rivaled Peyton Place. For some reason, I never finished it.

In the early 1980s, I created, wrote for, edited and published Magickal Unicorn Messenger. This was a Pagan publication that existed for about 3 or 4 years and had a readership of about 200 people across the country. (Once again, this was before computers were so widely known and used.)

The demise of this publication happened when I founded a yearly gathering of Pagan and like-minded people called "Goddess Gathering". For the first 7 years of this gathering, we rented land to hold the event. Then land was purchased and I became coordinator of what became a nature sanctuary for both plants, animals and humans. I retired from my position of coordinator in the Spring of 2003.

It's interesting that during the course of the annual gathering and then the acquisition of the land, my writing skills were once more put into use in the form of flyers, pamphlets, and finally, a newsletter for the members of the nature sanctuary. Here, once again, I edited, published and also wrote for this publication.

I put my writing skills to work, once again, in the Spring of 2006 and wrote an article which I submitted to Fate magazine. It was published in the October, 2006 issue and is an article about the haunted house I live in.

So what am I currently doing? Well, I'm studying vibrational medicine with a particular interest in balancing the chakras and auric field through the use of aromatherapy, color healing, tuning forks, crystals and gemstones, and astrology. I have counseled many people over the course of my many years on my chosen spiritual path and helped them to understand who they really are. I see vibrational healing as a very important, non-invasive way to continue to help the many seekers out there who are looking to discover who they really are and why they're here.

I launched my own website - Journey to the Center of the Mind - in March 2011. On the site you will find not only the newsletter, "Astrological Musings", that highlights astrological events as well as astronomical events and other astrological information twice a month, but you will also find a section entitled "Journey Log" that is a personal telling of the course of my travels through this incarnation and the many events and occult subjects that have shaped me and my world. Anyone who might be interested can find it at www.journeywithladymaya.wordpress.com. I also welcome personal communications at Durga1974@aol.com.

As you may well have guessed, I'm an avid reader. I enjoy fiction as well as fact. I also enjoy crossword puzzles, sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. I enjoy game shows that exercise your brain like Jeopardy, Chain Reaction, Lingo, etc. Of course, since I was raised on horror movies, I love them as well as sci-fi movies, adventures, mysteries and fantasy.

I currently reside in that haunted Victorian home in southeast Ohio with my husband, Gary, and my three cats where I continue work on an astrology manuscript and a fictional manuscript based in the history of the house, its previous residents and the town where it was built.

Religion & Spirituality > Astrology & Prophecy What is the Part of Fortune & why does it bring joy to your life?

Although astrology has come a long way in its acceptance and use by the general populace, there are still many aspects of astrology that are unknown by many. One of these comes from the Arabian system of astrology, the Arabian Parts. These parts are derived by taking the sign and degree of ones Ascendant at birth, adding the sign and degree of a specific planet and then subtracting the sign and degree of another specific planet. What is arrived at, by this mathematical equation, is an imaginary point in the natal chart that describes such things as bankruptcy, love, surgery, divorce, or fo...
