To the un-experienced critic, free verse poetry may seem childish and somewhat foolish. Incoherent sentences and unorthodox patterns, which seem to not make sense are some of the arguments put forward against free verse poetry. Yet to other people free verse poetry represents freedom. Not needing to be bound by the common rules of grammar and prose that most poets learn to use is just what these kinds of people require to let free their emotions and create masterpieces of the same, if not better calibre than orthodox methods of poetry.
