About me - Philip G. Coggin

About me

63 years old and rising every January, I just love writing.
Don't know what has got into me these days but I can't get enough.
I have a daughter 33 years old and a son 29 years old.Thats at time of writing this about me page (26th-Oct-2007)However I may add to it after that date.
I am a granddad because my daughter has three children. a girl and 2 boys.
I love foreign travel and if I could afford to travel more then I probably would not have time to write this item here. If you have never traveled then in my opinion you have missed some of the most important aspects of life itself.
I have been very active in local politics in my ward and have spent many years in the voluntary sector/meetings/community work etc. (Retired now)
I am very working man orientated and I have worked hard for my fellow workers, I believe very much in my fellow worker even though they sometimes don't believe in themselves. Why do so many working people seem to fear their bosses, they rarely seem to question authority, but authority is often wrong and challenge will often have a very beneficial effect for both wages and conditions, challenges do not always mean negatives for the company or the boss either.
Like a small amount of gardening (I keep it tidy and love my miniature roses)I love driving and taking along the camera. Photography is even better when you improve and print your own photographs, just wait while they come out of that printer Ooooooooooooooooo, sorry! it is exciting though.
Read my material and you will probably learn a lot more about me by the content of my writing.
I have a very strong character and I think you would probably call me a leader rather than a one of the troops.
You will I am sure decide that I am very opinionated and I will be the first to agree with you, sorry but I can't help how my personality has shaped, although is it not better to have heard the truth rather than pathetic lies. Lies do no one any good at all and if it is not the truth then don't say it. The truth should be very important to everyone, with particular emphasis on people in a political or public position because lies rub off on those around you and loose your credibility, before you know where you are everyone lies to you and anything you say becomes unimportant to the listener.
I am very loyal to my friends and very choosy about who are my friends, probably one of the most honest of people that you are every possibly likely to meet.
I do not suffer fools very well but I am certainly fond of intelligent conversation and the individuals that speak it. I can easily get rapped up in good entertaining conversation.
One thing that really bugs me is: Some of the writers who place articles on subject matter that clearly they know little or nothing about, and often they don't stop there because to add insult to injury they clearly have not checked their spelling or grammar either. Often the text has many mistakes that are not spelling but errors like odd letters here and there or they talk in one context then forget and a little later on completely change their mind/belief/point of view. I being British cannot talk of things pertaining to American laws and culture but some writers have even tried to do this too, what do they know of Britain and it's culture.
As you can see here, I am a straight talking man who pulls no punches but this is how we have to be sometimes when the truth is important to us. Not all we say can be dressed up and made to sound pleasant, often the truth is not pleasant.
Some of my writing is plain simple but very sound advice and many articles are computer orientated, after many magazine articles and much information regarding computer security, I have come to the conclusion that computer users are just not adhering to good advice about their own personal data/security. Governments too give advice about safety but they also make mistakes with our data. (When they do they are often very serious mistakes)I cannot stress how important this matter really is to every individual using a computer.
Hope that you enjoy any writing that I put on the site and I would encourage anyone to write if they feel that they have something to pass on to others.
Happy reading and the very best of luck and health to all who read my submissions.

Why do we write as we do?

A serious question - Is it because we want to be popular or we feel that we want others to listen, maybe we have this idea that we are interesting.
I can't say that any of these things really apply to me, I personally don't care if I appear interesting to others although I do hope gentlemanly, I don't care much about others listening but I do however try to be honest with my writing and give my true point of view, this may not always be acceptable to everyone but you are not able to please every one, if you cannot please people with honesty then you are fightin...
