Born on a submarine base in Connecticut in 1947, Gary grew up with ancestors Fitz Hugh Lane, Edward H. Lane, Calvert Harding Lewis and a host of other relatives as heros to look up to. Cutting his teeth on such classic authors as T.S. Elliott, Richard Henry Dana Jr., Jules Verne and Rudyard Kipling, Mr. Lewis tried to live up to the characters that he read about.
Volunteering for the draft in 1970 and shipping overseas with a U.S. Army Aviation Squadron, he was fortunate to have survived and thrived while in Southeast Asia.
Returning to America, further duty stations were with the 9th Infantry Division Artillery in Fort Lewis, Washington and as a Classified Documents Specialist serving at the Pentagon for over six years.
Leaving the military, in 1980, Gary's hobbies included writing, mountaineering and biking which he still enjoys while living in Concord, California with his wife and family.
Retired from active physical employment, Mr. Lewis is enjoying his retirement by writing.

In motion the life clock was set that day, Now the human body would grow old and fail. Eternal life was blindly given away. Grim indeed should that be the end of the tale. The serpent was subtle, beguiling, and mean, Saying if you eat you will not die. ...
