I am often torn between doing what I love and doing what I need to survive. It would be wonderful to be able to support myself entirely through writing, but I just haven't established myself yet. I am proud to say that one of my short fiction pieces was published for the first time last year in TRUE LOVE magazine!
It was an enormous accomplishment for me and gave me much needed validation. I felt as if someone was finally taking me seriously. Since then I have completed the script for a an action/adventure/romantic graphic novel and started my first attempt at an erotic novel. The point is to enjoy what I am working on and I always do.
Now if only I could figure out how to get some of this stuff published!
I have a psychology degree but after working closely with the mental health population I realize I do not want a career in this field. I find psychology interesting but the work is taxing and often thankless. I realize there is a difference between finding something "interesting," and being "passoinate" about it. I am passionate about my writing.
