Marking a watershed between the Eastern and Western highlands is the huge upland area of the Monadh Liath, or "grey mountain mass". The area is marked by the Great Glen to the west and Spey to the east and south. Despite its size, in the Monadh Liath proper there only four peaks over 3000 feet. They are fairly modest ones at that, with the highest being Carn Dearg at 945m. It was these that I attempted to climb on this expedition.
