I have been in the field of administrative assistance for over 30 years. My first job out of college was as an executive secretary to a team of engineers conducting artificial heart research. After that, I spent most of my career serving civil engineers or general engineering construction companies.
My husband of 32 years and I raised five kids. The first four were born in a 28-month period. We had two daughters, one year apart, which was pretty exciting. Having twin sons as third and fourth born children was a shock but still a blessing. Later we had one more son. He was the icing on the cake!
I learned to write at a young age as writing letters to my father, a career Naval officer, was our main source of communication. He wrote letters to the family with great regularity and we quickly answered each and every one. The letters were a sort of diary and allowed us to know each other at a very wonderful level, perhaps better than we would have known each other had he been home each night. I still have many of his letters. They are an heirloom for my children.
My husband was a school teacher. He is currently ill and somewhat limited in mobility and stamina. He too, expresses himself through writing. He has written a children's book that deals mostly with embracing the differences in people. He is also a talented artist.
I hope to write often and will be thrilled if and when I can submit something for publication.
