About me - Stanley Courage Dugah

About me

I love reading and reading loves me. And without this love liaison, I wouldn't have realized my writing talent. Started "serious" reading when I turned 13 and came close to consuming every book in the public library at my home town. There was nothing else to do and it was and still is a very quiet and boring town in which nothing ever happens; you couldn't even chance on a hen chasing a cow.

Reading made me a writer, making me aware of my inborn talent from the Father of all gifts and wisdom, and prompted me to show off what I can do with a pen (or should it be  with a keyboard?). Without further ado, let me cease boring you with way back chatters and permit you to read on.

I personally define writing as "a craft and a communication process involving the use of words in an understandable manner for the general purpose of bettering mankind's lot." Put another way, the writer must produce informative and entertaining works that everyone identify with in one way or another.

Now to tell you a little bit more about myself: I am a young writer (23 years old) who writes what can be useful to the reader. I may not possess knowledge in a particular field but when it becomes necessary for me to write there, I do all the research needed to create an article that can easily compete with those written by professionals. And in doing that, I make sure I acknowledge my sources.

If I, however, write to a topic on which I possess the requisite academic and intuitive knowledge in addition to insight, I tend to create. And this is what writing is all about; creativity. For me, the artist is the most creative of all professionals but second to the writer. It's only writers who have the ability to create a world in which they can easily dictate and control the behavior of their creation.

I also rate a lot at Helium and prefer brief but beautifully detailed pieces to long tedious ones. A page or two is enough for the web. Web readers are mighty fast and will hate you detaining them with overly long pieces. They may mouse and click away before you say share! Reason why I have a sort of punchy (but not painful) writing style. I rarely write three or more pages. Won't bore myself and my readers to death. Simple is sweet and brief, beautiful.

Now, why not click on the "Articles" tab atop this "about me" and check out some of my articles, short stories, flash fiction and poems? Do like/share anything you think is worth sharing. Thanks for reading and for your time.
