If your child consistently refuses to listen, perhaps it is time to think about where they are getting it from, do you always listen to them? Children learn what they are showed and if you want acknowledgement from them every time you talk, you must learn to do the same in return. If they refuse to listen while you are chastising them, they are probably trying to avoid a confrontation and their silence can be a protective reflex. Stay calm and always look them in the eye, this will hold their attention far better than shouting will. If you keep repeating what you are saying then of course ...
