On January 17, 2008, I started and was selected for a new position and career as a Clinical Social Worker with the "Ft. Bliss Warrior Restoration and Resilience Center" (R & R Center). This is a model program to treat soldiers returning from war, diagnosed with PTSD. The soldiers participate in a comprehensive, integrative/holistic health program for 6 months, 32 hours per week. Their primary job is to heal and return to active status if they can. I teach meditation, coordinate water polo and health education programs weekly. I also serve as a primary therapist and engage soldiers in individual, group and couple therapies.
In addition to teaching and practicing social work, I am administering and supporting an international community of certified partners of the "15-Minute StressOut Program" with individuals, couples, groups, families, and communities; serve as Team Leader with the "Las Cruces, Health Promotion Team with Elders;" and, facilitate stress management classes for "US Army Community Services," Ft. Bliss, TX.
