About me

Hi. I'm a 53 year old Native New Yorker who has been writing for most of those years. The nuns in Catholic school insisted on it. One of the things I have ALWAYS hated was writing about myself. It seems I am more of an enigma to myself than I am to anyone else. I am happily divorced and have 'successfully' and singularly raised my VERY independent 32 year old son. I live in Brooklyn, NY and love every minute of life in MY big city.

I have been a member of Helium since May 4, 2007 and have learned more about myself as a writer in these few months than I ever knew before. Whether or not I earn enough to support myself isn't really important but I can't lie: it would be nice.

I'll add more to this as and when the muse will allow.

Important women for those of us living in the 21st century.

It would be easy for me to highlight the virtues of some very well known and outstanding women in American history: women who have made incalculable contributions not only to women but to society as a whole. Of course, Rosa Parks, Mother Theresa, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Oprah Winfrey, to name a few, come immediately to mind whenever a discussion of incomparable women begins.

As instrumental as these women's accomplishments are, I have chosen to highlight some, perhaps lesser publicized, women whose contributions are equally i...
